Crystals do not automatically mean a fault
Wine crystals are crystallised salts of tartaric acid. They can appear at the bottom or closure and do not change the wine’s flavour. Sediment alone therefore does not prove that a bottle has spoiled.
Pour gently
If you prefer not to have sediment in your glass, stand the bottle upright and pour gently, leaving the final small amount behind. There is no need for an elaborate ritual. Assess the wine in the glass separately from the appearance of the deposit.
Ask if you cannot identify a foreign object
Not every shiny object in a bottle can be identified remotely as wine crystals. If unsure, stop drinking it for now. Photograph the object, bottle and label, then contact us. Keep the bottle and closure until the matter is clarified.
Details that help us
Include the wine, vintage, order number and whether it had already been opened. The contact form reaches the estate directly. A photo helps with an initial assessment but cannot replace reliable material identification. Statutory rights for an actual defect remain unaffected.
